Bglobal Aligns with Samsung
Bglobal is partnering with Samsung C&T Corporation on an exclusive work alliance to provide a fully funded solution for the installation of smart meters across the residential, industrial, and commercial sectors in the UK. There are currently approximately 27 million residential electricity meters in Britain and around two million electricity meters in the industrial and commercial sector that will need to be replaced with smart meters.
In its Spring Package, the UK government is expected to announce the technical specification for residential meters and the times table for the installation deployment. The relationship with Samsung means Bglobal is well positioned to play an integral role in this market as it develops.
Bglobal and Samsung are expected to establish a joint venture through a special purpose company. Samsung will provide smart meters for the venture and help Bglobal secure funding that enables the joint venture to offer a fully-funded rental model for the deployment of smart meters by energy suppliers to their residential and commercial customers.
The joint venture between Bglobal and Samsung is also expected to exploit opportunities in energy management and home automation, businesses that are both enabled through smart metering. Bglobal will contract with the joint venture regarding the installation, operation, and maintenance of the meters.
Tim Jackson-Smith, Group Chief Executive Officer calls the alliance “a major step forward for the Group and we are extremely honored that Samsung has chosen us to be its partner to develop a solution which will help to unlock the massive potential this market has to offer. We look forward to working closely with Samsung over the coming months.”
Bglobal is a leading provider of smart metering solutions to the energy market.

Apple New iPad Shipments May Be Delayed, Yuanta Analysts Say
Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Apple Inc.’s shipments of a new version of its iPad tablet computer may be delayed to June from April because of “production bottlenecks” at manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Yuanta Securities Co. said.
The delay arose after Cupertino, California-based Apple made design changes before the Lunar New Year, according to a report by Vincent Chen and Alison Chen, analysts at Yuanta. Jill Tan, an Apple spokeswoman in Hong Kong, declined to comment on the report. Edmund Ding, a spokesman for Hon Hai, didn’t answer calls to his Taiwan and China mobile phones.
“Our checks suggest new issues are being encountered with the new production and it is taking time to resolve them,” said Chen in the report. "As a number of Android 3.0 tablets are being launched in April and May, the delay in iPad 2 shipments may give the Android camp a brief window of opportunity.’’
Hon Hai, the Taipei-based contract manufacturer for Apple, dropped 3.1 percent to NT$110.50 in Taipei trading as of 12:36 p.m. local time, set for the lowest since Dec. 2.
A two-month delay in introducing the iPad could lower the tablet computer’s shipments to 23 million units this year, as compared with the brokerage’s current forecast of 30.6 million, according to the report.
The iPad, introduced in April, accounted for 17 percent of sales last quarter. The company has sold more than 15 million iPads so far, Vice President Eddy Cue said on Feb 2. The iPhone is Apple’s top-selling product, accounting for 39 percent of revenue last fiscal year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Faster Chips
Apple started producing an updated version of the iPad, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month citing unidentified people familiar with the matter. The new version is thinner, lighter, has more memory and uses faster chips than its predecessor, the newspaper said. It also has a front-facing camera that would enable videoconferencing, the Journal said.
Samsung Electronics Co., HTC Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. are also offering tablets to compete with Apple. Global shipments of tablet devices will more than double this year, led by Apple and Google Inc.’s Android-based models, according to researcher IDC Corp.
The iPad faces intensifying competition from Android tablets made by Samsung, Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. and Acer Inc. The Apple product accounted for 75 percent of global tablet shipments last quarter, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. Android tablets captured 22 percent of the market.

A Web design program is a computer program
A Web design program is a computer program used to create, edit, and update web pages and websites. The purpose of such a program is to make it easier for the designer to work with page and site elements through a graphical user interface that displays the desired results, typically in a WYSIWYG manner, while removing the need for the designer to have to work with the actual code that produces those results (which includes HTML or XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and others). Examples of a web design program are Adobe Dreamweaver and NetObjects Fusion which are commercial programs, and Amaya, which is an open source program.
